Grant Rasmussen

(MBA '93), Former Managing Director, President and CEO, UBS Bank (Canada)
and CONNECT 2011 Conference Co-Chair

    Grant Rasmussen was the president and chief executive officer of UBS Bank (Canada), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Swiss-based UBS AG, one of the world's leading financial firms, combining financial strength with a reputation for innovation and a global culture that embraces change. UBS AG is the world's largest wealth manager, a premier investment banking and securities firm, and one of the largest global asset managers.

    Prior to joining UBS, Mr. Rasmussen was President and Chief Executive Officer of RBC Action Direct, Canada’s second largest self-service brokerage. He has over 24 years of experience in the financial services industry. Mr. Rasmussen was also Chief Strategy Officer, RBC Investments for Royal Bank of Canada. As a member of the Executive Committee of RBC Investments he was responsible for developing the strategic direction of the wealth management business and working with business unit partners within RBC Dain Rauscher, Global Private Banking, RBC Private Counsel, Financial Planning, Full Service and Self-Directed Brokerage and Global Asset Management. He joined RBC Dominion Securities in 1994 and was responsible for marketing and business development. Prior to RBC Financial Group, Mr. Rasmussen spent 7 years with the American Express Company in various charge and credit card marketing roles.

    Mr. Rasmussen holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Queen’s University. He is a member of the International Advisory Board for the Schulich School of Business and a member of the Board of Governor's of Opportunity International. He is active with several non-profit organizations.

    He was born in Montreal, Quebec, is married to Mona and they have three children. He enjoys golf, wakeboarding, hockey, skiing and traveling.
